About This Position

Primary Purpose

The Server position is primarily responsible for assuring that the ultimate Hollywood Tavern experience is provided to the guest in an environment which enhances and contributes positively to the overall dining experience. The Server is expected to oversee and manage all the details to create an outstanding and memorable guest experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The Server has responsibility for the following:

  1. Demonstrating a customer-first attitude and living The Hollywood Tavern’s culture, values and mission.
  2. Assisting the Meet & Greet position by greeting and seating the guest when necessary.
  3. Welcoming guests with a smile, eye contact and a pleasant greeting within one minute.
  4. Being immediately visible and accessible to guests as they enter the server’s assigned section.
  5. Engaging and serving guests at the table.
  6. Incorporating storytelling to enhance the guest experience.
  7. Informing guests of specials and new products.
  8. Bringing plates, silverware and water to the table when necessary.
  9. Anticipating and responding to guest needs and being sensitive to special needs and requests.
  10. Refilling water glasses and bottles, when appropriate.
  11. Processing payments in a timely manner and being personally responsible for collecting cash and credit card receipts.
  12. Effectively using the restaurant’s Point of Sale (POS) system.
  13. Maintaining working knowledge of entire menu; all ingredients and all beverages including wine.
  14. Performing ongoing pre-bussing and manicuring of tables.
  15. Keeping service areas cleaned and well stocked.
  16. Providing a bank, wine key and pens on every shift worked.
  17. Taking out trash, recycle, and compost as needed.
  18. Checking bathrooms on a regular basis to make sure they are clean and stocked.
  19. Assisting with all housekeeping tasks, including stocking inventory, dusting, periodic deep cleaning, emptying trash and other tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Demonstrate ability to:

  1. Work in a team environment.
  2. Read and follow written procedures.
  3. Learn and perform in multi-task environment.
  4. Effectively work with guests.
  5. Take direction from others as well as work independently.
  6. Comfortable working with cash and credit card transactions.
  7. Maintain current required alcohol and food handler’s permits and demonstrate knowledge of alcohol and health code regulations.
  8. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  9. Regular and punctual attendance.
  10. Available to work shifts at varying hours as need arises.
  11. May require being on your feet for long periods of time.
OTHER WORK REQUIREMENTSWORKING CONDITIONSPosition requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting products and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds and repetitive hand and wrist motion. At times, includes working outdoors in various temperatures. This position includes work with sharp and hazardous equipment as well as work with phones, computers and other electronic equipment
