Position Description: POSITION GOALS
Reporting directly to the Digital Equity Coordinator, the Digital Navigator (Digital Literacy Instructor) is responsible for supporting participants digital access and skills goals at Restore Education and community partner agencies in the Alamo Area. Services will include outreach, class instruction, device lending, and individual support sessions. Additionally, the Digital Navigator will collaborate closely with other staff in offering complementary services. This position is full-time, hourly, non-exempt.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors Degree required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required
- Experience providing services to out-of-school youth and/or non-traditional students, specifically at-risk populations.
- Computer literate in Microsoft 365, Google Suite, Salesforce, webinar software
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Attention to detail with strong follow through
- Knowledge of performance accountability and data tracking
- High level of knowledge and skills with technology, devices, and internet/Wi-Fi
- Strong and demonstratable abilities to instruct basic computer and internet skills
- Instructional experience in various class modes such as in-person, online, and hybrid
- Highly skilled in interpersonal relationships with students and adults in leadership, management, teaching, counseling and/or other professional positions.
- Knowledge and experience working with underrepresented students such as low-SES, racial/ethnic minority, LGBT+, parents, immigrants, and veterans.
- Knowledge of advising/counseling techniques and procedures.
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, coordinate workload, handle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to deal with diverse situations and people, establish, and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and those contacted in the course of work.
- Willingness to learn new things and eagerness to acquire new skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the DE Coordinator, co-leads organizational efforts pertaining to the Digital Equity Initiative, digital literacy programming, adult education services, and other organizational initiatives.
Provide services to students in the following areas:
Program coordination
- Record required partner and student data such as contact information, case notes, or test results into a database.
- Ensure relevant program outcomes are achieved and tracked, as directed.
- Conduct device access and digital skills needs analysis of each partners program participants.
- Develop an individual digital needs assessment that can be administered by partners and participants or during the training sessions.
Digital navigation
- Curate a directory or digital library of tools and resources for digital navigation and digital skills programming.
- Host device access workshops and refer individuals to low-cost device ownership options.
- Use effective retention strategies such as relationship building, regular student contact, and goal setting activities, etc. so that students persist in the program.
- Provide digital navigation sessions with program participants and community partner referrals.
Digital equity services
- Write policies, processes, and standard operating procedures for the Digital Skills training collaborative.
- Create policies and standard operating procedures for device access for the community, including researching and procurement of software to track device access.
- Deliver digital skills training at partner locations, based on results of needs analysis and the specific needs of the targeted populations.
- With oversight, manage the community technology spaces and support participants in meeting digital access or skills goals.
Community partnerships
- Create and implement a plan to impact each partners digital equity strategy and ensure that specific needs of the targeted populations are met, including outreach, device access, training, and navigation services.
- Network and coordinate with other community digital equity programs to fully understand and implement the solutions offered across the region for device access and skills training.
- Promote the lending library and computer lab resources to digital equity community partners.
- Completes required amount of professional development hours each year.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required and/or assigned.
Schedule: Most days, the hours for this position fall between 9:00 and 6:00 p.m.; however, flexibility to work at evening and/or weekend outreach events is fundamental for the success of this position. 40 hrs per week expected.
Estimated Annual Compensation range: $19-23/hour and Dependent on Experience and Education.

*This position is grant funded. Although the grant is expected to end, additional funding might be obtained to extend the grant beyond the end date. If that would occur, your employment under the grant might also be extended. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical requirements include visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, bending, twisting, carrying/lifting course materials, and walking to perform the essential functions.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
Must possess a valid Class C Texas Drivers License or obtain a valid Class C Texas Drivers License within thirty (30) days after becoming a resident of the State of Texas.
