About This Position

Position Description:

The Inwood Academy Athletics Coach is a member of the Inwood Academy Athletic Department on a part-time schedule. The primary focus is ensuring the student-athletes are provided the best athletic experience possible. The athletics coach is responsible for instructing, leading, and preparing the student-athletes for interscholastic competition. Interscholastic competition is education based so coaches should place preference on academic success combined with athletic achievement. The coach is required to have a basic knowledge of the sport they are coaching with aspirations to increase knowledge and be willing to participate in professional development sessions. In partnership with the athletic department the coach is responsible to build the sport into consistent interest from the student body that will facilitate success performance. The athletics coach is held to the standard of compliance with all required certifications and training. Planning practices, game strategy, mentorship, organization, and upholding the department requirements will be evaluated.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching relevant skills, tactics, and techniques
  • Monitoring and enhancing performance by providing encouragement and constructive feedback
  • Identifying strengths and weaknesses
  • Developing training/practice programs
  • Undertaking administrative tasks
  • Manage inventory and storage of uniforms and equipment
  • Attend all games (make accommodations to meet schedule changes)
  • Creating accountability towards athletic policies
  • Academics, attendance, behavioral
  • Maintaining all other coaching responsibilities that arise during the season
