Full-Time/Part-Time: Part-Time

Description:Aquila's Swim Instructor teaches swim classes at Aquila health & fitness managed centers and programs. Swim instructors can earn $30-35/hour in commissions depending on the type of session taught.

Candidates for this position should have availability to teach swim lessons between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. during the week, and either Saturday or Sunday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. There is no current availability for swim instructor lessons on weekdays prior to 3 p.m. We are looking to hire for this position as soon as possible.

Principal Responsibilities and Activities:

• Teach aquatic skills.
• Responsible for enforcing all pool safety and health rules, and be able to explain why they are important.
• Responsible for obtaining an approved substitute except for sick leave. A sub sheet must be filled out and submitted to the Director for approval at least 24 hours prior to the shift.
• Maintain attendance and skill accomplishment records.
• Follow prepared lesson plans and be prepared to teach and know the subject of your instruction.
• Get in the water and demonstrate.
• Maintain teaching equipment.
• Maintain surveillance of participants and know their whereabouts at all times.
• Know the Glenpointe Spa & Fitness emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.
• Must attend all scheduled staff meetings and in-service trainings.

Requirements:

• Maintain a current, active national recognized lifeguard or water safety instructor certification
• Maintain current YMCA, Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and the Standard First Aid & Safety or equivalent certifications.
• Wear swimsuit at all times
• Succesfully complete a criminal background check
