Position Summary:

This job description covers the principal duties and responsibilities of the job. The description shall not, however, be construed as a complete listing of all miscellaneous, incidental or similar duties which may be required from the employees day-to-day performance.

Safety of employees should be considered your number one priority every day

Position reports to Foreman

Foreman sets the working hours

This position is classified as hourly

CPR, First Aid, OSHA 30-Hour Safety, LSC Basic Orientation Plus (BOP) and Site Specific training (as applicable), Flagger and Confined Space Entry Training may be required

Successful pre-employment background check for LMC and all military bases is required

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is required

10-Year DMV Report required for driving company vehicles (as applicable) as per LMC and insurance guidelines

TWIC card for special projects may be requested


Position Requirements

Position Requirements:

  1. Pipe belled properly and bedded soundly (no leaks, sags, deflections)
  2. Ability to shoot grades properly.
  3. Knowledge of pipe laying with pipe laser.
  4. Ability to perform utility testing (pressure testing, chlorination/sampling, mandrel, etc.)
  5. Equipment Operation/Maintenance
  6. Responsible for care/maintenance of compaction equipment.
  7. Perform daily inspection of tools, cables, etc. (Completes daily inspection forms)
  8. Responsible for care/maintenance/storage of tools and reports defects to Foreman each day
  9. Ability to operate support equipment well (including rubber tire backhoe, mini-excavator, skid steer, roller, loader, compaction equipment, etc.)
  10. Care and cleanliness of all inventory/small tools

Safety:

  1. Support and comply with company Health, Safety & Environmental Program, Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace, and Harassment Free Work Environment Program
  2. Set yourself as an example and practice workplace safety; use all personal protective equipment required for the job
  3. Operate equipment and hand tools in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life
  4. Visually inspect the worksite daily to insure a safe work environment
  5. Attends daily meetings for STA’s and Field Safety Talks to learn to identify possible hazards with work tasks, tools, and work area - both above and below ground, signs off on daily STA’s
  6. Confirm that all underground utilities have been located each day
  7. Report all accidents and incidents to project foreman and superintendent (regardless of how minor) as soon as possible
  8. Responsible for accessible, clean & organized work site
  9. Budget Management
  10. Installs pipe efficiently, meets or exceeds bid production
  11. Has thorough knowledge and understanding of scope of work (plans)
  12. Recognize scope (ground) changes and gets approval from Foreman or Superintendent for additional bedding material

Quality:

  1. All work is done per the contract documents (contract, plans & specs)
  2. All work is structurally sound, and excels in visual appearance
  3. Perform quality work so re-work is never required
  4. Punch lists are minimal
  5. Maintain excellent job site housekeeping and cleanliness
  6. Communication
  7. Communicate openly with Project Foreman, Superintendents, Project Manager’s, and Equipment Manager
  8. Communicate openly with Shop, Safety, Human Resources, and Admin when necessary
  9. Communicates well with owners, engineers, inspectors, and others
  10. Deal effectively with conflicts with crew members as well as all internal and external customers

Education and Experience:

  1. Minimum of 1 year of construction experience or combination of education and experience is preferred.
  2. Knowledge of principals, methods and standards of the designated trade’s area.
  3. Experience in the use and methods of tools and equipment commonly employed with the trade.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be physically able to exert up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  2. Work involves sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time.
  3. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of five to fifty pounds.
  4. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment, safety glasses, hard hat with chin strap, reflective safety vest, gloves, ear protection, face shield, safety toe boots
