Tear Down Mechanic in Abingdon, Virginia at General Engineering Co Va

Disassembly of customer’s hydraulic cylinders to facilitate repair and return to service.

Typical Duties:

1. Dismantles customer’s hydraulic components, cleans, inspects, and evaluates parts for usability.
2. Work in Climate controlled area but must expect to get WET, OILY, and DIRTY every day.
3. Position is very labor intensive.
4. Transport parts to appropriate machine to have repair operations performed.
5. Operates special equipment and work to minimize damage to cylinder components during disassembly.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Observes all rules for personal safety and all public laws or regulations for protection of the environment.
2. Performs other duties assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Strong ability to use hand tools, torches, sledgehammers, and pneumatic tools.
2. Manual dexterity required for disassembly of intricate parts.
3. Basic understanding of hydraulic principles.
4. Alert and attentive to details.
5. Physically able to stoop, bend, lift and position materials of heavy weight.
6. Willingness to work hours (including overtime) or shift assigned.
