Located inGreater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college,offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses inWellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds. The candidate is expected to commit toexcellence in teaching and learning, collaboration and professionaldevelopment. Adjunct faculty areexpected to deliver course materials in a learner-centered environmentconductive to engaging students in the learning process. The faculty member inthis position communicates consistently and effectively with students, facultyand administrators, and responds to communications within a 24 hour period oftime. The faculty is responsible for managing this course through timelygrading of assignments, providing substantial student feedback withassignments, and submission of clinical evaluations, attendance and grades.

MassBayCommunity College seeks a qualified part-time Adjunct Faculty beginning inspring 2025 and for future semesters to teach courses in Healthcare DeliverySystems, Pharmacology, Soft Skills for Medical Professionals, Electronic HealthRecords, Health Career Exploration, Medical Assistant, Medical Office, andPhlebotomy courses. The Health Studiesadjunct faculty teaches courses and skill development didactically. Studentswho enroll in these courses are typically in programs such as Medical Coding,Medical Office Administrative Assistant, Medical Assistant, and Phlebotomy butindividuals outside of these programs may take some of these courses. Somecourses are delivered online, and some may be taught face-to-face or in thehybrid modality.

The adjunctfaculty must have a healthcare background and expertise suitable to teach thecourse content. The candidate must be an effective communicator, be able toassess students objectively and work as a team. The adjunct faculty hasobtained appropriate certification where applicable and has earned appropriateeducation in a health-related profession. Opportunities exist for working with other clinical-based programs dependingon the candidate’s additional clinical certifications.

Days and Times: Varybased on the delivery modality of the course, i.e. online, hybrid, orface-to-face.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Teach students in a classroom or online environment following protocols and procedures and follow the curriculum;
  • Develop course content for the course;
  • Collaborate with program officials on students’ academic progress and needs;
  • Participate in the assessment of course and program learning outcomes;
  • Provide an engaging learning environment;
  • Communicate effectively, assess students objectively, and work as part of a team;
  • Stay current with professional development activities on their own time;
  • Use the College’s technology platforms to effectively communicate with students and colleagues to enhance the learning, as appropriate;
  • Exhibit current experience and relevancy in the healthcare environment being taught;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean/Dean.

This list isnot to be considered all-inclusive. A supervisor may assign other duties asrequired to meet the needs and foster the mission of the College.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current unrestricted certification in a given health field, as needed.
  • A minimum of two years of recent work experience in a health-related or relevant work environment.
  • Master's degree relevant to teaching any of the courses listed in the ‘Courses and Programs’ description above, or at least 5 years of directly related professional experience in the field may be substituted for the advanced degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action;
  • Experience working in a community college or similar environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need;
  • Presentation experience preferred;
  • Bilingual language skills;
  • Certified/credentialed in medical assistance, phlebotomy, or higher;
  • Formal experience teaching courses in the list above.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $1,397.00 - 1,585.00 DCE Per Credit
