Electrician at City of Redlands – Redlands, California

Under direction, to install, maintain, and repair electrical circuits, systems, and equipment; and to provide highly responsible complex assistance relative to the provision of City-wide electrical and electronic services.
Exercises no supervision.
Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Participates in the safe, effective, and reliable operation of electrical and electronic systems;
• Installs, replaces, and repairs electrical devices, systems, and equipment;
• Maintains an effective street lighting system;
• Performs special electric or electronic projects;
• Establishes schedules and methods for electrical and electronic services;
• Assists in evaluating operations and activities of assigned responsibilities;
• Recommends improvements and modifications;
• Submits justifications for needed supplies and equipment;
• Participates in the installation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of electrical equipment and controls, including electrical light circuits, and conduit and electronic communications;
• Participates in installing new wiring;
• Locates utilities;
• Tests wire section and locates defects such as short circuits;
• Removes, replaces, and/or repairs worn or defective wiring, outlets, and fixtures; and
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Three years of increasingly responsible experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of electronic/electrical equipment.

• Equivalent to a high school diploma.

• Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver's license at the time of hire.

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 70 lbs.;
• Exposure to heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confining work space, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards;
• Ability to travel to different sites and locations.
