Engineering Intern at City of Brooklyn Center – Brooklyn Center, Minnesota

This position provides engineering and field services support for municipal improvement projects and traffic data collection. Job duties consist of assisting Engineering Division staff with projects involving the construction of streets, public trails, water main, sanitary sewer, storm drainage systems and sidewalks. The Engineering Intern position works with other technical personnel under the general direction and supervision of the Engineer.

• Perform construction observation.
• Assist with measurement and documentation of construction quantities. In a university civil engineering or technical college program by Fall.
• Conduct material quality control inspections for conformance to specifications. Install and operate traffic counting equipment.
• Assist with construction surveying as a member of the survey crew.
• Perform work involving heavy lifting, including transport of survey equipment, installation of survey hubs and lifting of manhole covers.
• Assist with other areas within the public works department as assigned.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid Minnesota driver's license.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Civil Engineering, Construction Management and/or Survey student that will be enrolled in a university civil engineering or technical college program by Fall.
