BASIC PURPOSE:
The Environmental Services Director is responsible for developing, planning and coordinating daily environmental services responsibilities to ensure a clean, orderly and attractive facility. Scope of supervision includes housekeepers at Champions Assisted Living.
MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES:
1. Develop, direct and coordinate environmental services to include housekeeping and floor maintenance to include but not limited to carpet, tile, lament and wood flooring.
2. Direct and supervise daily staff assignments for housekeeping employees ensuring coverage of building.
3. Performs evaluations of individual staff performance in a timely manner to include 30,60 and 90 day and annual performance appraisals.
4. Initiate and conduct performance improvement plans and disciplinary action for individual staff when needed.
5. Instruct staff in proper and safe work habits to include but not limited to ensuring proper infection control procedures, ensuring all equipment is in proper working condition.
6. Maintain, update and educate staff on Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
7. Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.
8. Develop annual budget recommendations and requirements. Maintains and operates within budget
9. Implement controls costs, purchases and inventory supplies and equipment and maintain par levels.. Inspects equipment to determine repair, maintenance needs and cleanliness.
10. Inspects and documents inspection of resident rooms on a monthly basis and makes schedule for cleaning.
11. Attend ongoing educational in-services and attend appropriate committee meetings as needed.
12. Ensure adequate staffing levels to provide quality services.
13. Works with other coordinators/management team to achieve goals and objectives set by the Administrator.
14. Support management/administration decisions through periods of change or stress.
15. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assisted Living Administrator
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Knowledgeable in cleaning supplies and techniques.
· Knowledgeable of industry Environmental Services standards, to include but not limited to laundry and housekeeping techniques and equipment.
· Work is conducted primarily indoors.
· May be exposed to damp and warm condition, noisy, hot or cold, humid and busy environment.
· Physical exertion required at least 60% of the time. Physical exertion is described as standing, stooping, kneeling and bending. Frequent lifting, pushing, and carrying objects weighing at least 40 pounds.
· Minimal exposure to infectious diseases.
· Work in well-lighted, well-ventilated setting.
· Exposure to some noise and stress.
· Communicate via telephone and other automation vehicles.
· In an emergency, is expected to respond and includes the possibility of evacuation of residents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School diploma/GED with course work in related field desirable.
Licensure/Certification: N/A
Experience: At least 1 year of previous work experience in a supervisory position for Environmental Services and/or related field. Healthcare related field preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
