About This Position
The Registered Nurse Coordinator is a key member of a multi-disciplinary patient care team, which includes providers, residents, fellows and other clinical support staff. The RN Coordinator provides direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients seeking care at OHSU for Oncology services. They assess patient and family needs, assists in developing a plan of care, implements, educates, and evaluates the care delivered. The RN Coordinator serves as a key communication link between the patient, his/her family and the care team. The RN Coordinator is a continuous advocate for patients and their families, ensuring that clinical and business systems are customer service focused. The RN Coordinator practices in accord with professional standards, core values and with a commitment to service excellence. The RN Coordinator reports to the Care Management and Coordination Manager in Ambulatory Oncology.
Department Specific Working Conditions:
- Hybrid work schedule with variable 10-hour days Monday-Friday.
- Must be able to work in a busy clinic environment and prioritize duties with multiple interruptions throughout the day.
- Must be able to use medical and non-medical unit equipment required to perform essential functions of this position.
This position works with solid tumor patients within Medical Oncology
Responsibilities
Department Specific Requirements (competencies, equipment, certifications, etc.):
- Washington RN license within 6 months of hire
- Three years of Hematology Oncology nursing experience within the past five years
- The RN must have one of the following:
- Current OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification or
- Complete 36 cancer related continuing education nursing contact hours each accreditation cycle, per Commission on Cancer
