About This Position

JOB DESCRIPTION – SANITATION TECHNICIAN

Department: Production

Reports to: Production Manager

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

The Sanitation Technician is responsible for ensuring optimum quality or our products through maintaining proper sanitation throughout our production line. Must follow regulatory standards ensuring cleanliness and sterility of all products and processes. Responsibilities will include cleaning and maintaining the machinery and meeting Good Manufacturing Standards (GMP). Must be able to work in a fast-paced production assembly environment, be quality conscious, operate safely and have good communication skills. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to be involved in a fast-growing, quality-focused brewing and packaging company with an aggressive expansion plan. This is a Wednesday - Saturday, 10 hr PM shift

About Us:

Uinta Brewing Company embarked upon its mission of brewing world class, full-flavored, craft-brewed beer in 1993. Uinta is named after the only major east-west running mountain range located in the continental U.S. Since 1993, Uinta Brewing has created world class, full-flavored, craft-brewed beer ranging from 4.0% to over 13% alcohol by volume. The Uinta team comprised of outdoor and beer enthusiasts, brews a variety of beer organized in to three distinct lines; the Classic Line, Organic Line, and the Crooked Line.

Essential functions:

Assemble and disassemble equipment for proper cleaning/sanitizing per manufacturer instructions.

Operate the CIP (clean-in-place) system to clean and sanitize equipment, tanks, and pipelines.

Complete basic preventive maintenance of gaskets, seals, “O” rings, plates, etc., on all product contact surfaces as needed by the Master Sanitation Schedule.

Complete record keeping items such as, but not limited to, identifying cleaning cycle times on charts, measuring cleaning concentration, examining flow rates, assessing heat up temperature and sanitizing by chemical strengths.

Perform the basic housekeeping to include clean floors, walls, ceiling, air vents, lights, etc., of the plant, equipment, and exterior of all equipment.

Accomplish pre-operations check on all product contact surfaces including pumps, valves, agitators, alcoves and clamps before start up.

Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties.

Collect required samples needed for Quality Assurance testing

Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information.

Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOPs.

Analyze process data and equipment performance data to improve quality, throughput, and troubleshoot.

Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.

Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area.

Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintain continuity among work team by documenting and communicating actions and irregularities

Daily expectation to keep work area organized for efficient operation

Coordinate with the operations and scheduling manager when changes arise

Maintain a safe and clean working environment

Additional duties as assigned in various functions of the brewery as needed

Qualifications:

Applicant must be 21 or over to apply

High School Diploma or GED preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.

Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Experience within the food and beverage industry preferred.

Must have ability to lift up 75-100 pounds. Ability to crouch, bend, twist and stand for extended periods of time in a warehouse environment

Must be able to work in a wet environment with exposure to dust, gas or fumes and cleaning chemicals.

Interest in brewing a plus

Ability to work rotating, off or weekend shifts, as scheduled to cover production needs

Ability to work effectively and efficiently according to Uinta’s standards and procedures, including quality and quantity requirements.

Ability to work in a team environment

Self-motivated while also willing to ask questions and seek direction.

Support new ideas and help implement them.

Strong written and oral communication skills

Organization skills including attention to detail

Strong time management skills

Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety standards

Disclaimer: Physical working conditions are required with this position. Working in, on, and around vessels and pipes under pressure containing air, CO2, water, beer, chemicals, steam, and hazardous chemicals is commonplace. The work areas are mechanical in nature, require permits for confined spaces, fall protection devices for elevated workstations, and require a significant amount of walking and working on wet slippery surfaces. Process temperatures vary from 2 C to 100 C which cause varying ambient temperature conditions.

Could encounter some level of dust from the handling of malt raw materials to handling of diatomaceous earth on a regular basis. Moderate physical activity is required by handling objects up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently.
