Started in 1979, Winter Growth is an adult day program, memory care, assisted living, and respite care program rooted in independence, dignity, and life satisfaction. About the Executive Director role

Winter Growth seeks an Executive Director to continue the successful impact and reputation of compassionate and genuine care for residents, staff and families. The ideal candidate has a deep passion for serving seniors, a strong sense of connection, and experience with adult residential and day care.

The Executive Director will collaborate with this team to oversee the strategy, operations, programs and daily operations of our two centers in Olney, Montgomery County and Columbia, Howard County. Ensuring high-quality resident care while managing staff, finances, and compliance with regulations.

Executive Director is responsible for maintaining a positive and supportive working environment, fostering resident satisfaction, and building strong relationships with residents, families, and staff.


Key Responsibilities

Overall Management:

· Directing and coordinating all aspects of the facility's operations, including staff supervision, resident care, and financial management.

· Lead Winter Growth’s strategic direction, collaborating with the Board, staff, and key partners to design, implement, and track goals aligned with the vision, mission, and strategic plan

· fDevelop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the current landscape and build positive relationships with the community to deepen Winter Growth's impact.

Financial Management:

· Developing and managing the community budget, allocating funds, and ensuring efficient resource utilization.

Programs and Resident Care:

· Overseeing the delivery of care services, ensuring resident needs are met, and maintaining high levels of resident satisfaction.

· In collaboration with Center Directors and program staff, design, develop, and expand new and existing programs to meet the changing needs of the community.

· Ensure all programs are high-quality, that they are compliant with industry rules and regulations, and that they have an impact on residents

Compliance:

· Ensuring the facility adheres to all federal, state, and local regulations, including those related to resident care, safety, and licensing.

Team Leadership and Culture

· Foster a collaborative and kind culture of genuine teamwork and common purpose among all Winter Growth staff

· Model and animate Winter Growth values, centering respect, compassion, development, and celebration within and among Winter Growth staff, Board, residents, families, and partners

· In collaboration with the Human Capital Director identify, hire, and support high-quality Winter Growth staff, ensuring ongoing professional development opportunities, fostering high staff engagement and retention

Communications and External Relations

· Serve as the key external voice of Winter Growth in the community, building relationships with a variety of stakeholders, champions, and donors

· Proactively seek out partner organizations, leaders in the community, county and state government officials, and steward and manage relationships on behalf of Winter Growth

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Leadership and Management

· Leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

· Experience overseeing essential executive functions, including strategy development, financial management, meeting critical deadlines, operations, and programs, aligning with the organization’s goals

· Ability to thrive both internally by fostering strong relationships with staff and strategy and externally with community partners and organizational champions

· Prior experience in long-term adult care, senior adult day program, or residential and/or long-term care highly preferred

Financial Acumen

· Knowledge of budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation.

Regulatory Knowledge

· Familiarity with relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing assisted living facilities.

Resident Care Expertise

· Understanding of resident needs and experience in delivering quality care services.

Problem Solving

· Ability to identify and resolve operational issues, manage conflicts, and make sound decisions.

Communication Skills

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with residents, families, staff, and other stakeholders.
