Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Superintendent of Streets, the General Foreman oversees and actively participates in the construction, maintenance, and repair of City infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, stormwater systems, retaining walls, and related public works assets. The role supervises and assigns daily work to DPW crews and contractors; operates and maintains a wide range of heavy motorized equipment; and performs excavation, material transport, and facility maintenance activities. Responsibilities include managing snow and ice operations, monitoring weather conditions, ensuring adequate inventory of materials and equipment, coordinating repairs with the mechanic shop, and responding to emergencies and after-hours events. The position works closely with DPW leadership, engineering staff, and external agencies to ensure compliance with ADA requirements, design standards, and safety regulations; assists with project estimates, reporting, and grant-related documentation; and responds to constituent concerns. The role also supports City special events and assumes the duties of the Superintendent of Streets as needed.
