Plant Engineer Position Summary
Operates, maintains and repairs stationary mechanical equipment, such as chillers, cooling towers, pumps, steam boilers, hot water boilers, valves, temperature controls, air handling units, microwave disinfection unit, power systems, and all ancillary plant equipment to provide for utilities such as light, heat, air conditioning services for the hospital campus. Maintains energy systems, procedures, and measures including system analysis and reporting. Delivers exceptional quality and service to all patients and other customers. Through a constant pursuit of excellence and respect for every individual, fosters and environment of participation, teamwork and professional growth.
Plant Engineer Position Requirements
Education
- Graduation from high school or equivalent with college level courses in physical sciences preferred. High school diploma or equivalent is required; experience and/or certifications in lieu of a diploma may be considered.
- Industry courses in flame safeguard, code compliance, energy systems and mechanical equipment desirable.
- May be required to be certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
- May be required to complete Fire Brigade training and management classes.
Experience
- Five years experience required in a large physical plant working with boiler, chillers, generators and ancillary equipment.
- State of Maryland first grade engineer's license required.
- Demonstrated experience with energy management systems and energy reduction measures required.
Plant Engineer Work Schedule
- May be assigned to any shift.
- May be assigned to weekend duty.
