Manufacturing Engineer at HPC Fire Inspired – Miamisburg, Ohio

HPC Fire Inspired, an innovator in the world of outdoor fire features since 1975, seeks qualified candidates for a Manufacturing Engineer position in Miamisburg, Ohio. Below are a list of job duties and requirements associated with the Manufacturing Engineer position.

Job Duties:

• Set the process, train and create standard work and tools / displays for the team to use
• Process map end to end processes, identify source of non-value add activities and cost of poor quality
• Identify opportunities for automation, fixturing, and gauges to remove waste, increase capacity, improved efficiency, improved logistics, reduced labor & total OCOGS costs and reduced complexities
• Identify together with manufacturing engineering automation opportunities
• Develop and support Lean manufacturing engineering principles within the site
• Utilize various tools to solve manufacturing problems including, but not limited to: DMAIC, 8D, Fish Bone Diagrams, and other process improvement methodologies
• Lead projects and analyze losses and develop solutions and control plans using lean tools such as 5S, 5W, bottleneck analysis, Gemba, Kaizen events, Kanban, Poke Yoke, Value
• Stream Mapping, Visual Factory, Standardized work, Takt-time, Statistical tools, Control charts, Pareto's, Design of Experiments, etc.
• Conduct in-depth analysis including data collection and analysis in order to identify and implement improvements for processes and projects
• Facility layout optimization optimizing and leveraging lean cell design techniques
• Ensure the effective utilization of manufacturing plant equipment through the application of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles to drive a sustainable manufacturing culture of change
• Maintain broad knowledge of product design, manufacturing and assembly techniques
• Must be a hands-on person, with an ability to design, build and test fixtures and gauges

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar engineering discipline
• 18 months of prior work experience as an engineer designing products for sale to the public
• Experience with 3D CAD Software is required.
• Solid understanding of advanced Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing is required.
• Knowledge of and ability to develop workflows and lean processes is required.
• Knowledge of manufacturing engineering policies, principles, and procedures is required.
• Knowledge of Lean problem-solving tools and resources is required.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma or lean manufacturing tools or related certification is required.
• Experience working with ISO standards is required.
