RN - Hem/Onc Staff Nurse at Childrens Hospital of The King's Daughters – Norfolk, Virginia

Plans, provides, and monitors individualized nursing care in response to specific patient needs within a defined scope of practice; following established policies, procedures, and regulations. Supports a defined population program or service. Reports to departmental management.

Provides developmentally appropriate, high acuity psychosocial and clinical care respective to the assigned patient population.

Demonstrates excellence in nursing practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in formal and informal patient and staff education.

Communicates and collaborates effectively with all members of the healthcare team.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license.

RN certification preferred.

Pediatric experience preferred.

If in the infusion clinic, minimum of 1 year experience in Hematology/Oncology preferred.

CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.

PALS training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire for infusion clinic; within 6 months for inpatient.

APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Status preferred or must be obtained within 120 days of hire.

Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
