Sterile Processing Technician at Waverly Health Center – Waverly, Iowa

SCHEDULE
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Responsible for cleaning, assembling, and sterilizing all equipment, supplies, and/or instruments. Also responsible for maintaining the supplies inventory for the department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Education, Experience, and Training
   1. Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
   2. Previous experience in operating room sterilization preferred.
   3. Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system. Job specific systems are also required.
   4. Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
   5. Will attend one Sterile Processing conference per year.
   6. Certification in field will be required within one year of employment.
   7. Ongoing continued education will be required in field to maintain certification.

Physical Requirements

1. 1. Standing – Approximately 75% of shift.
   2. Walking – Approximately 75% of shift.
   3. Lifting – Approximately 35 pounds. Must use, and require staff to use, when in hospital and pre-hospital settings, proper body mechanics and ergonomics and, as applicable, lifting/moving devices.
   4. Twisting - frequently.
   5. Bending –frequently
   6. Squat/Kneel – Approximately 50% of shift.
