GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Host/Hostess provides full-scope, hands on host / hostess services in the community per the Community standards. Is responsible for providing a superior level of quality service and cleanliness at all times.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Essential Job Duties: (Other duties will be assigned as needed) Must be willing and able to do the following:

· Assist the Dining Services Director and Dining Services Supervisor and serving staff with the overall operation, coordination, appearance and maintenance of the dining area and beverage station ensuring that courteous and efficient services are delivered.

· Responsible for arranging seating accommodations and greeting residents, guests, and staff while maintaining an inviting environment.

· Monitor the appearance of dining room tables, including table linens, napkins, silverware, table setup, centerpieces, etc. Assists in folding napkins, rolling silverware, refilling water and coffee as needed.

· Exemplify at all times Community standards of cleanliness, sanitation and organization.

· Provide all customers with quality service and an overall high quality dining experience.

· Exhibit dining room appearance and presentation standards at all times.

· Assist in maintaining pertinent and appropriate resident and guest records, reservations, and special functions.

· Advise the Dining Room Manager regarding dining room status.

· Knowledge of diets provided per Policy and Procedure.

· Represent the community in a warm and inviting manner, which creates a positive marketing environment.

· Supports creating a culture where the business decisions made in this position, along with individual employee engagement, drive top-line revenue and occupancy

· Complete assignments timely, completely and accurately.

· Attend all in-services as assigned or requested.

· Participate in interdisciplinary team and other community meetings as assigned or requested.

· Consistently work cooperatively with residents, co-workers, physicians, families, consultant personnel and other ancillary service providers.

· Observe all community safety policies and procedures.

· Is observant of safety hazards and emergency situations, and reports to appropriate person or takes corrective action according to established procedures.

· Come to work in a clean, neat uniform and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance.

· Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality, complies with attendance policy.

· Assume accountability for data contained in the employee handbook.

· Assumes accountability for compliance with Federal, State, and other regulations within scope of control and of which informed.

· Observe infection control procedures.

· Follow Residents’ Rights policies at all times.

· Observe all community policies and procedures.

· Accept assigned duties, instructions or correction in a cooperative manner, voicing concerns or disagreement in a professional manner through established chain of authority according to state procedures.

· Perform incidental housekeeping and maintenance tasks as may arise during the course of regular duties, in order to maintain a clean, safe, pleasant environment for residents, visitors and staff.

· Perform all other related duties as assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficiency in the English language enabling the employee to read, write, comprehend and communicate simple instructions, correspondence, memos, etc.

Dining room organization and preparation hands-on responsibilities

Knowledge in all areas of local Health Department, OSHA and other regulatory agencies relative to culinary services

Strong inter-department communication and teamwork skills

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations

Ability to multi-task, balance team and individual responsibilities, and respond promptly to resident and visitor needs

High school diploma/GED or the equivalent education, training and experience

Experience in working with seniors preferred but not required

Must hold current state-required sanitation (Safe Food Handling and/or Certified Food Manager) certification/licensure
