About This Position

Engineering Manager

ActiveCampaign's engineering team is growing rapidly and we are looking for experienced Engineering Managers to join our Krakw Hub. Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a high-growth environment with rapidly evolving needs, and is ready to lead teams through a significant AI-first transformation. We're looking for driven and curious engineering leaders who combine strong people management with technical depth, and who are open to embracing new technologies and ways of working. Our Krakw Hub houses multiple engineering teams Forms, Integrations, Ecommerce, Agency, CRM, Mobile, CampaignsUI, and Content working across different product pillars with a shared focus on building agentic workflows into all core functionalities across the ActiveCampaign platform. Our engineering managers are people with varying technical backgrounds and interests who are heavily involved in the technical details of their team. As managers, our main focus is keeping our teams efficient, well-prioritized, and executing on the right goals. We build teams that are inclusive, collaborative, and have a strong sense of ownership for the things they build.
What your day could consist of:
  • Team Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead a team of talented engineers who like to ship code and tackle hard engineering problems
  • Drive strict prioritization and delivery management ensuring your team is focused on high-impact work and delivering predictably
  • Create a collaborative work environment that fosters autonomy, inclusivity, innovation, learning, respect and transparency while holding a high bar for craftsmanship
  • Share knowledge with team members via mentoring, code reviews, design doc reviews, technical talks, and timely feedback
  • Maintain rigor in high code quality, automated testing, and other engineering best practices
  • Contribute to and execute on the organization's vision and standards around security, quality, observability, and clean code
  • Support legacy and modern services and applications in the public cloud and deploy them through CI/CD practices
  • Demonstrate problem solving and technical innovation by staying hands-on contributing to architecture decisions, reviewing code, and writing code when needed
  • Champion AI-first engineering practices driving adoption of AI tooling and agentic development workflows within your team
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, other Engineering Managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure we're building great products
  • Partner with other engineering teams to identify and evangelize opportunities to improve engineering productivity
  • Work closely with the ActiveCampaign People Team to hire high-caliber candidates from diverse backgrounds
  • Maintain flexible working hours with at least a few hours of daily overlap with Chicago timezone (US Central), including availability for afternoon meetings to facilitate cross-site collaboration
What we're looking for:
  • Required:
  • 3+ years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience
  • Strong software development background with experience building and deploying scalable applications in the cloud using CI/CD practices
  • Production experience in PHP; Python or Java is a plus
  • Solid database experience with SQL, NoSQL, and event streaming technologies
  • Proven ability to drive prioritization, delivery cadence, and execution rigor across a team
  • Quality-first mindset with experience solving challenging technical problems at scale
  • Strong communication skills and customer focus
  • Fluent in English (B2 minimum)
  • Willingness to work flexible hours with regular afternoon availability to overlap with US Central timezone
  • Nice to have:
  • Experience leading teams through AI/ML adoption or integrating agentic workflows into engineering practices
  • Experience with organizational scaling growing teams, establishing processes, and navigating rapid change
  • Track record of cross-timezone collaboration in distributed engineering organizations

The salary range provided above is a good faith estimate of the pay range determined by the location associated with the job posting. The actual salary depends on a candidates skills, experience, and work location.
This is an exciting time to join ActiveCampaign as we build out our new office in Poland. You will be a large part of developing our office culture in this new Krakow hub location.
