Position OverviewThe Executive Assistant to the Head of Miriam School and Learning Center is a trusted and essential partner in advancing the school's mission: ensuring that every child is known, valued, and supported in reaching their full potential.
This role requires a highly organized, proactive, and relationship-centered professional who operates with warmth, discretion, and a deep commitment to Miriam’s core values of respect for all, working together, commitment to excellence, and always putting children first.
In addition to providing high-level executive support, this individual plays a key role in project management and advancing the school’s strategic plan, helping to ensure that priorities are clearly defined, progress is monitored, and initiatives move forward with purpose and alignment.
Key ResponsibilitiesExecutive Partnership & Strategic Plan Management
- Support the Head of School in the daily operation of the school, as well as in advancing short- and long-term goals and institutional priorities
- Works closely with the Administrative support team to support programming as needed, including Office support and assistance.
- Partner closely with the Head of School to manage and track the implementation of the strategic plan, including timelines, benchmarks, and key deliverables
- Coordinate strategic initiatives across departments, ensuring alignment, communication, and follow-through
- Develop systems to monitor progress, organize materials, and provide regular updates on strategic priorities
- Manage the Head of School’s calendar with strategic foresight, ensuring time is aligned with mission-driven and student-centered leadership
Board & Governance Support
- Assist with the preparation of materials and logistics for Board of Trustees meetings and support the work of executive and standing committees as needed. Assist in tracking Board-related action items and strategic priorities
- Support clear communication between the Head of School and the Board in alignment with school goals
- Cross-train and work closely with the Advancement team, especially in relation to BOD events and needs
Operational & Project Coordination
- Project manage organizational reporting, including ASANA, DASL, ISACS, and other compliance or accreditation reporting and related initiatives
- Support organization-wide events and community programs, and coordinate as needed
- Support HR, Advancement, and Admissions initiatives as needed, including recruiting, onboarding, and internal communication
- Take an active role in the full life of the school, contributing to a collaborative and engaged community
Administrative Excellence & Professional Practice
- Maintain organized and efficient systems for files, records, and documentation
- Willingness to pivot to help out all facets of the organization, especially regarding events for the BOD, Admissions and HR
- Manage expenses, invoices, and administrative workflows with accuracy and attention to detail
- Anticipate needs, solve problems proactively, and provide a sense of stability in a dynamic, ever-changing environment
- Understand and promote school standards and policies, supporting their thoughtful implementation and evolution
- Set and maintain appropriate professional boundaries while collaborating effectively with all constituents
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous growth as a lifelong learner, including the effective use of current technologies
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 3–5+ years of executive administrative support, ideally in a school or mission-driven organization
- Experience with project management and/or strategic initiative tracking strongly preferred
- Experience with organizational reporting, accreditation, or compliance initiatives preferred
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to reflect warmth and professionalism
- High level of discretion, intuition, judgment, and emotional intelligence
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office, Asana etc.
- Experience with Blackbaud or similar school management systems preferred
