Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee end-to-end payroll operations using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing.
- Supervise payroll team members and provide guidance on payroll data management, including employee hours, tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and other payroll adjustments.
- Oversee payroll account reconciliations and ensure alignment with the general ledger and overall financial records.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations; oversee preparation and submission of payroll tax filings and related reports.
- Partner closely with Human Resources leadership to manage benefits-related payroll activities including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Develop and review payroll reports on compensation, payroll expenses, and workforce costs to support executive decision-making.
- Lead payroll-related internal and external audits by ensuring proper documentation, controls, and reconciliation processes.
- Evaluate and improve payroll systems, policies, and processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is required.
- Extensive experience with payroll systems such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, Ceridian, or similar enterprise platforms.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles including journal entries, debits and credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and general ledger processes.
- Proficiency in accounting systems such as QuickBooks or similar financial tools; familiarity with HRIS platforms is an advantage.
- In-depth understanding of payroll tax regulations, compliance requirements, and benefits-related payroll administration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail with strong data management and reporting capabilities.
