Introduction

We are looking for a hands-on, detail-driven HR & Safety Coordinator who thrives on building structure, driving consistency, and keeping organizations compliant, organized, and audit-ready.

This is not a high-level strategy-only role. This is an execution-focused position for someone who takes ownership, builds strong systems, and ensures nothing falls through the cracks. If you love creating clarity, improving processes, and supporting leaders with practical HR guidance — you will thrive here.

Who You Are

You are organized, practical, and confident guiding managers through HR processes. You understand that strong documentation protects the company and supports employees. You’re comfortable balancing structure with approachability.

You likely bring:

  • 2+ years of progressive HR experience and a desire to take the next step in your career
  • Exposure to industrial, trades, or multi-division environments (preferred but not required)
  • A solid working knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards, with an interest in deepening your expertise
  • Experience supporting workplace safety administration; COR familiarity is an asset but can be developed
  • CPHR designation (completed or in progress), or interest in pursuing it
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, professional documentation
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail, with a mindset of continuous improvement
  • Sound judgment when handling confidential matters
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to learn through real-world challenges
  • The confidence to support managers, paired with the humility to grow into a trusted HR advisor

What You’ll Do

  • Ensure employee files are complete, compliant, and audit-ready
  • Administer structured onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Coordinate and document performance review cycles
  • Support progressive discipline processes with leadership
  • Track compliance with Alberta Employment Standards (leaves, vacation, overtime, etc.)

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for technical and administrative roles
  • Post roles, screen candidates, and coordinate interviews
  • Conduct reference checks and help prepare offer documentation
  • Oversee 90-day onboarding checklists and milestone follow-ups

Employee Relations Support

  • Serve as first point of contact for HR-related inquiries
  • Support workplace investigations through documentation and coordination
  • Promote consistent application of company policies
  • Escalate complex matters to the Executive team when required

Compensation & Benefits Administration

  • Coordinate benefits enrollment and changes
  • Liaise with benefits providers
  • Maintain compensation records and assist with ongoing review administration
  • Track market compensation data and provide input to leadership

Safety & Compliance

  • Coordinate and administer the corporate safety program
  • Maintain COR documentation and prepare for audits
  • Schedule and track required safety training
  • Assist with incident documentation and follow-up
  • Ensure WCB reporting and regulatory compliance documentation is maintained

What Success Looks Like in the First 12 Months

  • A consistent, easy-to-follow recruitment process is developed, documented, and adopted across divisions
  • Employee files are reviewed, organized, and aligned with compliance requirements
  • Clear, practical onboarding and offboarding workflows are implemented and used consistently
  • Safety documentation is organized and audit-ready, with confidence heading into reviews
  • Managers are supported and coached to consistently follow documented performance management and discipline processes
  • HR documentation and processes feel more structured, proactive, and less reactive than when you started
