Job Summary:Pittston Co-Packers (PCP) manufacturing process uses state-of-the-art technology and equipment. The process engineer has ownership for the overall successful management of the process from an operation, maintenance and equipment perspective. The Process Engineer is accountable for ensuring that the process equipment, operations and maintenance of the processing equipment meet the standards of PCP. PCP needs an experienced Process Engineer with the drive to execute a startup plan from end-to-end and the personality to guide people through the process.
Key Responsibilities:· Assure plant compliance with Federal, State and Corporate environmental laws, rules & regulations.
- Assure that the process complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
- Troubleshoot problems and develop root cause and corrective actions.
· Own the engineering and development of plans for process systems.
· Plan, direct and coordinate activities concerned with design, construction, modification and maintenance of the processing equipment.
· Create and manage KPIs for the processing function.
· Develop and manage SOPs for the processing function.
· Develop and plan annual downtime and preventative maintenance activities
· Prepare performance and availability/reliability calculations, in accordance with ongoing continuous monitoring efforts.
· Provide recommendations for enhanced performance of the facility.
· Provide process engineering oversight to the process infrastructure.
· Coordinate with other functions in plant to ensure compliance with all environmental laws and regulations.
· Partner with vendors and suppliers to leverage insight, training and productivity.
Functional Skills:
· Assist in identifying/designing/validating and communicating Technologies that support the Innovation pipeline. Including but not limited to new thermal pasteurizers, new blending technologies, product handling, raw material handling, filling technologies, pumps, valves and control systems.
· Must be able to communicate with technical and non-technical cross functional teams. Must clearly communicate with Marketing and Supply Chain Engineering in language that each can utilize.
· Must understand possible process/product interactions and provide a risk assessment and primary recommendation.
· Trouble shoot commercial processes and provide solutions in order to successfully produce new products. Understand why a process is not capable and how to best make it capable within the time and financial constraints of the project.
· Participate in business planning process by providing capital estimates for new processing systems and plant trials, as well as providing timing estimates for new commercialization.
· Maintain the automation controls systems to ensure maximum up time of all equipment.
· Maintain and ensure all records and control systems information are updated
· Keep the spare parts in stock based on the minimum and maximum limits
Requirements:Education & Experience:
· Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field
· Minimum 8 years of working experience in processing environments
· Self-starter; take charge, positive & proactive attitude
· 5+ years Process engineering of low acid food products or pharmaceuticals
· Ability to communicate clearly within the organization and externally
· Demonstrable teamwork and maturity with a strong work ethic
· Strong leadership skills
· Computer skills include Microsoft Office Tools.
· Proven problem solving and risk mitigation skills.
· Prior inter-departmental communication experience.
· Factual decision-making skills
