About This Position:
The Credible Messenger Program Director will be highly motivated to recruit, hire and train Credible Messengers, who will deliver intensive mentoring and skill building groups to Juvenile Justice involved adolescents. The Program Director will accept referrals, schedule and conduct intake/assessment appointments, complete Individual Service Plans, and match youth with Credible Messengers all within specified timeframes. The Program Director will reach out to the community to recruit mentors and maintain community contacts. The ability to maintain and arrange 24/7 on-call responsibilities is essential.
  • Oversees the day-to-day administrative functions of the program, which includes:
  • Timely acknowledgement of referrals and contact with youth and family;
  • Monitoring of staff schedules and tracking of staff trainings;
  • Compliance with all portions of quality assurance expectations;
  • Plan the delivery of the overall program and its activities in accordance with the mission and values of the organization
  • Recruit, hire, train and supervise all staff
  • Ensure professional development of staff
  • Conduct intake/assessment, safety planning and Individualized Service Plans with youth and families
  • Comply with requirements of the BJA grant and any Restorative Justice mandates
  • Maintain community connections with identified grassroot organizations and other neighborhood groups to identify who is respected in the community and interested in being a Credible Messenger
  • Match youth to Credible Messenger
  • Provide ongoing support to Credible Messengers, recognizing various trauma and ensuring that staff practice self-care
  • Collect and report on outcome measures
  • Attend all JBCSSD meetings as scheduled
  • Ensure Program compliance with Contractor Data Compliance Service (CDCS) mandates and CSSD’s Flexible Funding policy
  • Ensure reporting and communication policies and procedures are being followed
  • Conduct team meetings and conferences
  • Review all documentation
  • Attend monthly meetings with Probation to give status updates on active clients and assess progress
  • Ensure that staff adhere to all DCF mandatory reporting policies
  • Ensure on-call 24/7 is in place.
  • Ability to communicate, cooperate and serve people from all cultural identities with respect, professionalism, integrity and fairness in a manner that recognizes the individuality of each person
  • Foster teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance program effectiveness

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with supervisory experience
  • Five years’ experience working with adolescents
  • Applicants from the Waterbury area preferred
  • Involved with the local community
  • Must have relevant experiences to offer Justice involved youth such as a transformed life and lived experience
  • Skilled in advocacy, and crisis intervention
  • Ability to function independently and work a flexible schedule
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
  • Personal Effectiveness/Credibility
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Schedule & Rate of Pay:
  • Monday through Friday 9:00am-5:00pm (typically)
    • 35 hours per week
  • Must have on-call availability if needed for programmatic demands
  • Salary range of $60,000 - $72,000 per year
    • Actual pay is determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, certifications, scope, and performance, as well as market rates, internal equity, budget constraints, the role’s responsibilities, candidate’s unique qualifications, potential for growth, benefits, and organizational policies.
