Job Summary:
The AVP, Perioperative Education provides educational leadership for clinical education and competency development across perioperative, procedural, and ambulatory care environments, impacting acute care hospitals, procedural service lines, and joint venture ambulatory surgery centers,
Leads system initiatives that strengthen surgical asepsis, infection prevention, and interdisciplinary workforce competency, while aligning education strategies with surgical quality governance, patient safety priorities, regulatory readiness, and operational performance goals,
Through collaboration with nursing and periop/ambulatory leadership, academic partners, and operational teams, advances standardized clinical practice, workforce readiness, and quality outcomes across the continuum of procedural and surgical care,
Education Required:
Master s in nursing or related field
Additional Education Preferred:
None
Licensure Required:
Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) credential
Additional Licensure Preferred:
Nursing Professional Development (NPD) credential
Experience:
At least 3-5 years of experience in nursing education leadership,
At least 2 years experience working in a hospital based perioperative environment,
Experience Preferred:
3-5 years at the Director level in a nursing education department,
Job Responsibilities:
Provides executive leadership in fostering a patient, physician, and learner-centered culture across perioperative, procedural, and ambulatory care environments,
Maintains strong collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary clinical teams, nurse and physician leaders, academic partners, and operational stakeholders to ensure education and competency initiatives support exceptional service delivery,
Leverages enterprise feedback mechanisms, stakeholder engagement, and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement and advance strategies that enhance patient experience, team collaboration, and responsiveness across clinical education programs,
Collaborates with leadership through surgical quality forums and perioperative councils to align education strategies with system quality metrics, infection prevention initiatives, and patient safety priorities,
Advances system-wide education programs that strengthen surgical asepsis practices, infection prevention, and evidence-based clinical care, supporting improved patient outcomes and regulatory readiness across hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers,
Provides strategic oversight for the allocation and utilization of education resources across procedural services and ambulatory surgery centers, ensuring efficient deployment of personnel, training programs, and operational support,
Collaborates with leadership to forecast workforce development needs and align education infrastructure with clinical service demand, including perioperative and procedural growth areas,
Establishes sustainable frameworks for clinical competency development, workforce training, and leadership development across procedural services and ambulatory care environments,
Leads workforce sustainability initiatives that support professional development of clinical staff, ensuring a skilled and resilient workforce capable of meeting evolving procedural and surgical care demands,
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: adaptability, interprofessional collaboration, attention to detail, expert knowledge of procedures commonly performed in the perioperative scope
