Discription
The Accounting Technician - Financial assists in maintaining financial management procedures. The Accounting Technician – Financial is responsible for performing various accounting and financial tasks, including preparing monthly bank reconciliations, recording revenues and investments, preparing adjusting entries, preparing mortgage schedules, and performing other related duties as required. This position works directly with the Director of Finance and has no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in overseeing banking procedures, including opening and closing bank accounts.
· Monitor and verify bank entries daily.
· Reconcile bank accounts and post entries, transfers and deposits.
· Complete weekly cash position.
· Accounts receivable invoices and collections as required.
· Prepare and post monthly and year-end journal entries and assist in reconciling GL accounts.
· Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and related schedules and statements.
· Assist in maintaining the accounting database and monitoring accounts payable and receivable processes.
· Assist in preparing financial reports for the annual audit and liaise with the external auditors as directed.
· Respond to annual Requests for Information from towns and cities in collaboration with the Maintenance Team.
· Collect, file, and record complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions, such as investments.
· From time to time, management may assign other duties or special projects as needed to meet the department's goals and objectives. The employee will receive clear instructions and guidance to complete such assignments successfully.
Qualifications
Education
· A diploma in Business Administration or a degree in Finance.
· Three years of related on-the-job experience.

· Accounting Proficiency: Applies sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and demonstrates accuracy in all financial tasks, including reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting.
