Position Summary
Visit Supervisor is responsible for supervising family time visits between children in out-of-home care and their biological families. This position ensures the emotional and physical safety of the child while supporting healthy parent-child interactions in alignment with established case plans.
The Visit Supervisor provides in-person supervision, ensures visit structure and safety, documents all visit activity, and communicates observations to the appropriate team members. This role may involve travel between office, community, and home-based visit locations.
Position Responsibilities
The Visit Supervisor is focused primarily on direct service delivery and documentation. Responsibilities include Supervise scheduled family time visits, ensuring child safety and well-being, maintain a calm, neutral, child-focused presence during emotionally sensitive situations, support families in following visitation guidelines, boundaries, and case plans, redirect unsafe or inappropriate behaviors using trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise visits in the office, community, or family homes.
- Ensure visit environments are safe, appropriate, and free from hazards.
- Provide coaching or redirection to parents when needed.
- Document all visits objectively, factually, and within required time frames.
- Communicate concerns or violations to the supervisor or case manager.
- Uphold all agency, legal, and licensing guidelines regarding safety and conduct.
- Maintain availability for PRN scheduling, including occasional evenings or weekends.
Education Requirements
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field.
- Accepted: Associate degree or equivalent experience in social services, childcare, or related fields.
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children and families in child welfare, social services, education, or behavioral health.
- Experience supervising family visitation or working with court-involved families preferred.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care is ideal.
