Peninsula Engineering is a unique, privately owned team of multi-disciplinary professionals specializing in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Planning and Zoning, Landscape Architecture and Environmental Permitting. We are currently seeking qualified applicants for a Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) position to join our Survey team in the fast-growing Naples / Ft. Myers, Florida area.
Position Summary
We are looking for candidates to provide surveying services to support a wide range of projects for both internal projects along with numerous private sector clients. Some of your responsibilities will include conducting field surveys to determine and establish boundaries, topography, data collection, and geodetic control, overseeing construction staking for site layout, structures, grading, paving, roadways, and drainage features, assembling field data, performing survey calculations, preparing legal descriptions, plats, maps, and recording drawings and legal survey documents. This position includes a combination of field and office work.
Essential Skills
- Surveying experience and/or degree in surveying or related field.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both in the field and within an office environment.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and stand or walk for long periods.
- Ability to carry up to 60 pounds of surveying equipment over rough conditions.
- Ability to travel to client sites to conduct surveys, attend team meetings, and consult with clients.
- Knowledge of professional surveying practices and procedures; state and federal laws affecting land surveying and boundaries is required.
- Familiar with the operation and maintenance of total stations, GPS equipment, and other various measuring instruments is required.
- Familiar with state plane coordinates, horizontal & vertical datums, network adjustments (least squares), and geodetic & GNSS
surveying is required. - Familiar with electronic data collection systems and processes is required; must be able to download and process data files, and perform complex survey computations using various software packages
- You must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience or training with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or ArcGIS.
- Goal to achieve Florida Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PSM) license in 3-5 years.
Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering or related, qualifying field.
- LSIT, or ability to obtain LSIT w/in 6 months of hire required.
