Med-Pediatrics - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26003009)
This position is for the Division of Endocrinology within the Department of Pediatrics. We are seeking an enthusiastic research coordinator to join our type 1 diabetes (T1D) research team. The job is focused on recruitment and execution of studies aimed at identifying persons at risk of developing T1D and individuals with new onset T1D. The intention of our studies is to delay or prevent the onset of T1D, as well as stopping the progression of disease in those recently diagnosed with T1D. The coordinator would participate in a variety of research studies including clinical trials. Specific activities will include: participant recruitment, consenting, data collection and management, blood sample collection (phlebotomy skills preferred, but willing to train), basic specimen processing and shipping, participant payments, and may include regulatory activities. Travel to satellite locations and community engagement activities, both local and into our division’s multi-state region, does occur. If not utilizing public transportation, a valid driver’s license is required. It is the expectation that the incumbent will use their own vehicle required for local travel and the owner of the vehicle must carry automobile liability insurance. The owner’s automobile liability insurance coverage is primary coverage. The University’s automobile liability insurance policy provides excess coverage only. Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement. This position is located at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville. PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required prior to the start of employment. Conducts research assessments on study participants. Assists with and adheres to Institutional Review Board (IRB) renewal, modification, and approved protocols. Assists with training staff. Ensures adherence to protocols and corrects issues with data collection.

• Mentors and educates staff and student workers as directed.
• Ensures proper protocols are followed and quality assurance of research and related work.
• Corrects data collection issues.
Physical Effort
Light to Medium. When traveling for events, we need to pack up our own supplies and transport and set them up for the events, as well as when supplies arrive on site.
