CAE Project Engineer , EPC Procurement Oversight
TerraPower, LLC is seeking to hire a highly motivatedComputer Aided Engineering (CAE) Project Engineer to support the Natrium team. The CAE Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) analysis activities to support specific Natrium projects. This role manages CAE software integration scope, schedules, resources, and technical deliverables while serving as the interface between design engineering, licensing, and the CAE technical team. The engineer ensures that all deliverables meet project requirements, quality standards, and regulatory expectations.
Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Coordination :
- Develop project plans aligned with project timelines and deliverables.
- Coordinate with design engineers, licensing teams, and stakeholders to define BIM scope and requirements.
- BIM Deliverable Development :
- Create and refine 3D CAD models based on design requirements and specifications.
- Generate engineering study deliverables (e.g., technical drawings, reports, data packages) that meet project requirements.
- Ensure deliverables are documented in compliance with internal and external standards (e.g., ASME or ISO).
- Manage version control of deliverables to maintain traceability throughout the design lifecycle.
- BIM Deliverable Execution :
- Manage the execution of BIM tasks, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with engineering standards.
- Oversee the work of CAE team members to deliver high-value insights for design decisions.
- Resource and Schedule Management :
- Track resources effectively to meet project needs and timelines.
- Monitor progress and adjust schedules as needed to mitigate risks and delays.
- Quality Assurance :
- Ensure all CAE tools and deliverables comply with quality standards, regulatory guidelines, and project-specific requirements.
- Conduct reviews of reports and results to ensure technical validity.
- Interface Coordination :
- Act as the primary liaison between CAE teams, design engineering, and licensing departments to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Facilitate communication and integration across teams to streamline workflows.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Education :
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience :
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with 2-D and 3-D Datacentric CAD/BIM (SMART 3d, SMART P&ID) applications.
- 1-2 years hands on Analysis/Simulation (e.g. ANSYS, Abaqus), or engineering project management is a plus.
- Technical Skills :
- Proficient in using BIM platforms for nuclear facility modeling and data synchronization.
- Experience in model-data integration for effective collaboration between design and procurement systems.
- Understanding of SQL databases, including data extraction, transformation, and loading.
- Ability to write scripts for automating workflows in languages such as Python, PowerShell, and VBA for efficient data handling and reporting.
- Soft Skills :
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams effectively.

Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected candidates qualifications and experience. This range is specific to the state of Washington.
