Help bring funding and investment into communities across the Black Country - and make sure local voices shape decisions about their future. Charging Up Change is our place-based approach to tackling inequality, strengthening youth and community voice, and supporting long-term change across the Black Country. At its heart is the Black Country Network (BCN), bringing together VCSE organisations, cultural partners, public bodies, funders and decision-makers to strengthen collaboration and collective impact. As Community Investment & Funding Officer, you will identify and develop funding and investment opportunities, build relationships with funders, investors and partners, strengthen the resilience of Network members, and help connect community priorities with regeneration and investment decisions. This is a relationship-led role at the intersection of community development, funding, philanthropy, social investment and place-based change. We welcome relevant and transferable experience from a range of sectors and career paths, including VCSE, grant-making, philanthropy, regeneration, partnerships, local government and cultural organisations.

Essential Experience and Knowledge

Weʼre looking for someone who can demonstrate:

- Around three yearsʼ relevant experience, which could include regeneration, investment development, fundraising, commissioning, economic development, community development or a related area. We are interested in the relevance and depth of your experience rather than one specific career route.
- Experience researching and making sense of funding, investment, commissioning or regeneration opportunities.
- An ability to identify gaps, connections and emerging opportunities that could support longer-term place-based change.
- Experience building productive relationships between people or organisations with different perspectives, priorities or levels of influence.
- Experience supporting organisations, partnerships or projects to access funding, investment or commissioning opportunities.
- An understanding of, or willingness to develop your knowledge of, place-based regeneration, inclusive growth and community wealth-building.
- Experience working with multiple partners or stakeholders and balancing different priorities.
- Experience contributing to clear, high-quality funding applications, proposals, reports or similar written materials.

- Contribute to funding propositions, investment cases, reports and strategic briefings.
- Connect local needs and opportunities with wider regional and national priorities.
- Organise and prioritise your workload across multiple projects, partners and deadlines.
- Ask questions, seek support and work collaboratively when navigating unfamiliar or complex situations.
