About This Position
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring production machinery operates efficiently by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems breakdowns, and repairing equipment
Requirements:- Perform routine maintenance on motors, conveyor systems, production equipment, and facilities.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues, repairing or replacing broken components.
- Machine Installation: Set up, install, and calibrate new production machinery.
- Evaluate, recommend and monitor new equipment and processes to continuously improve product quality, reduce product lead-time, and reduce costs of operation.
- Continue to find ways to improve cycle times; reduce scrap and upgrade components for cost/performance improvement.
- Troubleshoot and repair marking systems, leak testers, cell controls, robots, coordinate vision systems, gauging systems and heat treat in die cast and machining departments.
- Continually improve knowledge base regarding advance in parts, equipment and processes to keep abreast of changes and innovations.
- Participate in requisitioning of materials, management of equipment manuals or literature and assist in maintaining correct levels of parts and products needed for daily maintenance and PM’s.
- Assist with training of new or less-experienced maintenance employees.
- Support and work with all departments in solving problems and improving manufacturing processes.
- Work with vendors to improve production processes.
- Monitor projects or situations that could cause schedule revisions in other departments and inform Operations Manager or Maintenance Manager.
- Participate in monthly Safety Team meetings.
- Perform work in accordance with regulatory and the Company’s safety policies to assure the safety of yourself and your coworkers.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including OSHA regulations and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, to ensure a safe working environment.
- Installation: Assist in the installation, leveling, and alignment of new machinery and production equipment.
- Training and Support: Provide technical support and guidance to machine operators on basic maintenance procedures and proper machine operation to enhance overall machine reliability.
- Recommend solutions to repeat equipment failures.
- Fill out detailed work orders for machine history to find root cause solutions.
- Other duties as assigned
Academic Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, with an Associate's degree or technical certification in a related field preferred.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Electrical knowledge
- Technical Knowledge: Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and ladder logic diagrams.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly diagnose issues and implement effective solutions
- Tool Proficiency: Experience using various diagnostic and measuring tools, such as multimeters, calipers, and micrometers.
- Strong communication skills, a "safety first" mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently (with limited supervision) and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with AB PLC series and troubleshoot same.
- Familiarity with high pressure die-casting processes, CNC machining operations and associated machinery.
- Troubleshoot both electrical and mechanical components of equipment to reduce or eliminate downtime.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems components, valves, pressure reducers, and cylinders; understand hydraulic blueprints and concepts.
- Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems components, valves, pressure reducers and cylinders; understand pneumatic schematics and concepts.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and their components; understand electrical schematics.
- Perform PM’s and repairs on ABB robots, Fanuc robots, printers, and other associated equipment to board level.
- Perform PM’s and repairs on all die cast machines and associated equipment including furnaces.
- Perform PM’s and repairs on all CNC milling and associated equipment including x-rays.
- Perform PM’s and repairs on all facility equipment.
- Install equipment in a fully automated work cell to actual production; plumbing and conduit;
- Assist in start-up and shutdown of automated work cells, robots, printers and vision system;
- Metal fabrication, assembly and modification of guards, tooling, supports, and associated equipment using current machining and welding equipment
- Repair computer PC based systems to board level.
