We are seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to support nuclear material processing systems, enrichment‑related technologies, and high‑hazard chemical operations. This role provides process design, system development, troubleshooting, testing, and operational support for systems involving UF₆, vacuum environments, cryogenic fluids, and related process supporting systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support process design and operation of systems handling uranium‑bearing materials, including UF₆, cryogenic systems, vacuum systems, and high‑temperature furnace environments.
  • Develop and optimize process parameters for batch and continuous operations, including thermal, vacuum, gas flow, and material handling characteristics.
  • Provide input to design packages, work packages, and process change documentation for nuclear or high‑hazard chemical systems.
  • Perform field walkdowns to verify existing configurations, gather process data, and support constructability and installation planning.
  • Support testing, evaluation, and operation of R&D‑scale or prototype chemical process equipment.
  • Contribute to system troubleshooting, operational support, and identification of process improvements for nuclear and chemical systems.
  • Support safety basis documentation, hazard evaluations, and compliance activities for systems operating under DOE/NNSA or NRC requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in chemical process engineering within nuclear, DOE, or high‑hazard industrial settings.
  • Experience with vacuum systems, cryogenic fluids, high‑temperature processes, or uranium/metal chemical processing.
  • Ability to support process design, system testing, and operational troubleshooting.
  • Experienced in Mass Flow Balance Calculations.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, safety requirements, and QA programs for nuclear or hazardous chemical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UF₆ systems, enrichment‑related R&D, or processing.
  • Background in nuclear enrichment technologies, cryogenic, or gas‑phase chemical operations.
  • Experience developing test plans, analyzing process data, and producing technical reports.
  • DOE Q‑Clearance (active or ability to obtain).

Location/Work Arrangement:

  • This position is in Oak Ridge, TN.
  • Schedule is full-time, Monday – Friday 40-hour week.
