Staff Accountant at Bear River Mutual Insurance Company – Murray, Utah

Staff Accountant Position

We are looking for an experienced staff accountant who has the ability to prioritize tasks and improve processes. A successful candidate will have a great work ethic and a broad understanding of accounting and reporting responsibilities. This position will contribute to providing timely & accurate information to assist with better business decision making throughout all levels of the company. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities:

· Financial reporting process improvement

· Implement & improve internal controls

· Financial statement analysis

· Month-end close process

· Reinsurance reporting & account reconciliations

· Implementation and testing of new insurance administration software

· Assist with the development of the annual operating plan (AOP) and assist department managers with understanding expense variances

· Answer inquiries from other departments, research issues, and problem solve

· Supports accounts payable & premium receivable function

· Day to day accounting operations

Qualifications:

· A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent

· Process improvement, including internal controls

· Experience with Microsoft software systems (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

· Experience with data and analyzing large data sets (large volume environment)

· Ability to work individually and as a team member

· Ability to demonstrate honesty and maintain confidentiality

· Accounting software experience & ability to test systems and procedures for accuracy

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

· Currently licensed CPA

· Big 4 public accounting experience

· Statutory accounting experience

· 2+ years of auditing experience

· Microsoft Power Query

· Microsoft Power BI

· Microsoft SQL
