About This Position

Job purpose

Assistant Project Managers helps the Project Manager oversee all phases of a construction project from preconstruction to completion in an efficient, profitable, and safe manner. Ensure communication between PM and on-site employees as well as subcontractors, vendors, clients, and administrative staff involved in the project.

Duties and responsibilities

General Company

  • Assist Project Manager in all job and administrative duties.
  • Assist the Project Manager in managing the financial and budgetary commitment of the job to ensure profit.
  • Represent TFS in a professional manner to the client.
  • Lead and be the example to others representing TFS values.
  • Actively work to increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

Project Award / Pre-Con

  • Review JSI and RFI logs
  • Participate in Preconstruction handoff meeting.
  • Have knowledge of estimate and final budget.
  • Have knowledge of and implement the Job Start-up sheet.
  • Have knowledge of the contract Scope of Work.
  • Have knowledge of customer SOV based on building sections
  • Learn to develop a framing schedule.
  • Have knowledge of the subcontractor site specific contract and exhibits Assist in creating and administering an overall job build plan.
  • Have knowledge of material takeoff and “where used” list.
  • Review shop drawings for all components for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Have knowledge of supplier submittal & delivery schedule
  • Assist Project Manager with scheduling ship dates with suppliers.
  • Have knowledge of a job’s Management Roles and responsibilities plan

Project Operations

  • Assist the Project Manager in the administration of the job build plan.
  • Assist in managing client expectations in coordination with client’s field team.
  • Have total knowledge and understanding of the job’s estimate, schedule, budget, site plans, site logistics, management needs, site access, scheduling.
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve emerging ones. Analyze, manage, and mitigate risks.
  • Assist in meeting contractual conditions for the job and ensure quality construction standards are followed.
  • Assist in the management of ASIs, change orders, and extra work.
  • Help to maintain RFI log and JSI log.
  • Review work progress daily.
  • Order all materials and components in alignment with the PO.
  • Help maintain Fieldwire plan updates and task assignments.
  • Help coordinate the ordering and monitor the use of all materials and components.

Project Admin

Assist Project Manager in all administrative duties.

  • Assist Project Manager in gathering and submission of data required, to complete WIP reporting.
  • Collect and turn in receiving slips to Project Manager
  • Participation in client and TFS required jobsite meetings.

Qualifications

*Ability to perform duties/activities of workers supervised*

  • Have knowledge of and experience in construction site management.
  • Proficient in communication and organizational skills
  • Advanced plan reading skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Fieldwire
  • Advanced safety knowledge and performance
  • CPR/AED Certified
  • OSHA 30 hour
  • STSC Certified

Working conditions

Full-time position, requiring a minimum of 40 hours/week on site or in the regional office - often weekend work may be required, Environmental factors depend on job location but may include cold, hot and humid conditions. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and sometimes at extreme heights. Must be able to effectively handle large workloads.

Essential Function requirements

Should be capable of walking, lifting, carrying, climbing, kneeling, and balancing. Certain amounts of strength, dexterity and alternates is required. Must follow all safety requirements of the job. Lift up to 50lbs
