Middle School ELA Teacher at ST ANNS CHURCH – Nashville, Tennessee

Position Summary:
The Middle School ELA Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in grammar and writing for grades 5–8. This role integrates academic excellence with Catholic values, fostering students’ intellectual, moral, and spiritual development. The teacher supports the mission of Catholic education by modeling faith, promoting service, and nurturing the whole child.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver rigorous ELA instruction aligned with state standards and school curriculum.
• Guide students through the writing process, including narrative, informational, and argumentative writing.
• Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform instruction.
• Create a positive, respectful classroom environment that reflects Catholic values.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress and behavior.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success and school initiatives.
• Maintain classroom discipline consistent with school policies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Deep understanding of ELA content and instructional best practices.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
• Valid state teaching certification (or ability to obtain certification).

• Practicing Catholic preferred (or willingness to support Catholic teachings).
• Experience teaching middle school students is preferred.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
