Accounts Payable Specialist at Highmark Companies – Savage, Minnesota

Position Summary:

The Accounts Payable Specialist supports multiple departments across Highmark Companies by processing vendor invoices, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end close activities. This role is a vital contributor to the Finance Team and plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records.

Pay: $43K - $47K

Location: Onsite - Savage, MN

Responsibilities:

• Process high volumes of vendor invoices daily
• Route invoices through approval workflows and follow up with internal stakeholders to ensure timely approvals
• Accurately code invoices to projects, cost codes, and general ledger accounts
• Match and apply invoices to open purchase orders
• Reconcile multiple company credit card statements
• File and pay MN Sales and Use tax
• Process and reconcile employee expense reports
• Assist with month-end close duties as assigned
• Respond to internal and external inquiries and ad hoc requests
• Collaborate with the Finance Team to ensure timely processing and avoid backlogs
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency within accounts payable workflows
• Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of experience in accounts payable, accounting support, or data entry
• Experience with TimberScan (AP approval software) and/or Sage 300 preferred (not required)
• Ability to process high volumes of transactions with a low error rate
• Ability to manage accounts payable across multiple entities with accuracy and consistency
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Professional and confident when working cross-functionally
• Valid driver’s license
• Must pass a background check.
