About This Position
Job Summary:
The Credentialing Specialist provides timely and complete processing of appointments and reappointments to the Medical Staff and Allied Health Professional Staff, maintains ongoing records and files, prepares files for Credentialing Committee presentation and assumes other related responsibilities as assigned. The Credentialing Specialist works under the supervision of the Credentialing Coordinator.
Performance Expectations:
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills in writing as well as verbally.
- Demonstrates the ability to process providers accurately, timely, and appropriately.
- Demonstrates the skills necessary to request and deliver article requests for providers.
- Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing and navigating hospital credentialing software.
- Demonstrates proficiency with MS based computer equipment and various software programs including, outlook, excel, word, and access.
- Demonstrates ability and competence to multitask and manage multiple projects.
- Demonstrates skills and knowledge required to ensure provider files meet all regulations and standards.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Bachelor degree preferred. Three to five years’ experience working in provider credentialing or working in related hospital department required. Typing and computer skills required.
Work Experience:
Familiarity with Medical Staff Support and Credentialing preferred.
Mental Demands:
Must possess the ability to organize and professionally manage demanding workload; possess professional sophistication, presence, and comfort level to facilitate working with healthcare professionals; assertiveness/political intuitiveness; effective professional business written and verbal communication skills; technical knowledge of automate support system and maintenance of same. Must demonstrate leadership and self-motivation.
