Under limited direction from the Chief Operator, the Operations Supervisor manages teams of operations professionals and is responsible for compliant and safe operation of AlexRenew’s Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) and associated conveyance systems, including wet weather and combined systems. The Operations Supervisor leads a team composed of skilled Operations Team Leads, Operations Technicians I & II, and Apprentices. The Operations Supervisor coordinates plant-wide activities to ensure operational excellence and achieve performance in constant coordination and collaboration with the Process Team. Supervisors are designated as emergency personnel and must report to work to maintain the continuous operation of the wastewater treatment plant.
Work Schedule: Fixed 10-hour work day, 9:30 p.m. until 8:00 a.m., eight week rotation schedule with six out of eight weekends off work
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Shift Leadership
Supervises operations staff, establishes goals, mentors, evaluates and documents performance. Evaluates staff training needs, supports Technical Trainer to develop and deliver training, ensures that staff have appropriate knowledge needed to operate efficiently and safely. Manages staff work schedule and assignments, ensures adequate staffing for continued operations. Backup Chief Operator as needed; may serve as “Operator in Responsible Charge”Provides leadership as initial Incident Commander in the event of a plant emergency.Operations Management
Completes daily rounds to evaluate and document staffing, equipment, safety, and regulatory compliance. Troubleshoots and evaluates operational issues, provides technical recommendations to Chief Operator and other departmentsAnalyzes trends and operational status in SCADA, OP10, and other systems to ensure optimal operationsSupports maintenance of plant operations during construction or maintenance activities. Coordinates across departments to ensure continued operations. Review and updates operations SOPsDocuments non-conformances and corrective actions through AlexRenew’s Environmental Management SystemReviews daily, weekly, and monthly reports and logs for accuracy of information.Safe Work Environment
Acts as the primary safety ambassador for the team, ensuring that all staff work safelyEnsures appropriate use of PPE. Coordinates with safety team for prompt replacement or repair of necessary PPE. Reports safety incidents and reviews safety reports using the safety reporting systemRegulatory Compliance and Reporting
Ensures 100% compliance with all permit requirements. Reports any suspected or actual noncompliance events to the Chief Operator within 1 hour of discovery. Reviews and signs required reports necessary for regulatory reporting.Maintenance Support
Other duties and responsibilities to support AlexRenew vision and outcomes as needed.

Education and/or Experience:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee may perform on an occasional to regular basis while performing functions of this job. A detailed Physical Demands Analysis is available in Human Resources and a copy will be provided to all incumbents in this position. While performing the duties if this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and stand for nine hours a day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception, near and far acuity, color and field of vision. The employee would be required to constantly communicate with management and coworkers, and to listen to emergency sirens and alarms.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Environmental conditions necessitate following strict safety guidelines and use of Personal Protective Equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee performs work indoors in a climate-controlled environment, with outdoor trips between buildings and some outdoor work required. Some areas of the plant are hot and humid at times. This position works a 10-hour fixed shift and is required to work weekends and holidays, as scheduled.
