Job Summary:

The Project Officer provides technical, programmatic, and liaison support to the Joint Service Small Arms Program (JSSAP) and Maneuver Futures Capabilities Directorate (M-FCD). This role supports the development, integration, and transition of small arms technologies across the DoD lifecycle, aligning science and technology efforts with warfighter requirements. The position requires expertise in Army acquisition, requirements development, and small arms systems to support capability development, stakeholder coordination, and future force modernization initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide Project Officer support for small arms systems, including combat development and user representation.
  • Identify and assess emerging small arms technologies and future capability solutions.
  • Support development and staffing of acquisition and requirements documentation (e.g., CBA, ICD, AoA, CDD, DOTMLPF).
  • Coordinate and liaison between JSSAP, M-FCD, Army organizations, Joint Services, industry, and academia.
  • Support requirements development and briefings for AROC/JROC and Army Futures organizations.
  • Assist in development of doctrine, training plans, TTPs, and Basis of Issue Plans (BOIPs).
  • Prepare and deliver briefings, reports, memorandums, and information papers.
  • Represent JSSAP in meetings, working groups, conferences, and Integrated Product Teams.
  • Document meeting outcomes and provide follow-up reporting within required timelines.
  • Support planning and execution of JSSAP conferences and future initiatives.
  • Maintain awareness of S&T portfolio efforts and align with user needs and capability gaps.
  • Provide program management support including monthly status reports, trip reports, and meeting summaries.
  • Establish and maintain relationships across the small arms acquisition and S&T ecosystem.
  • Support experimentation, demonstrations, and capability development activities.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements/Education:

  • Minimum 15 years of Army acquisition experience.
  • Minimum 10 years active-duty military experience in acquisition or combat development.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in small arms acquisition.
  • Minimum 5 years of Joint Service small arms systems experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of DoD acquisition lifecycle and requirements processes.
  • Experience developing Army acquisition and requirements documentation.
  • Strong understanding of small arms capabilities, technologies, and capability gaps.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience working with Army Futures Command or M-FCD.
  • Experience supporting Joint Working Groups (JSSARI, JSTAC, JSSAME, JSSAST).
  • Familiarity with experimentation and modeling environments.
  • Experience engaging with industry and academic partners.
  • Knowledge of Force Design Update (FDU) and Concept Capability Plans (CCP).

Security Clearance:

  • Active Secret Clearance.

Travel Required:

  • Up to 12 trips per year (CONUS/OCONUS)
