Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal Technical Artist in Canada.
In this role, you will play a key part in shaping next-generation visual and simulation pipelines used to validate advanced autonomous systems. You’ll operate at the intersection of art, engineering, and AI, building high-fidelity virtual environments that meet rigorous real-world standards. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will design tools, optimize rendering performance, and integrate cutting-edge techniques into production workflows. This is a highly impactful individual contributor role where your expertise will directly influence the scalability and realism of complex simulation systems. The environment is fast-paced, experimental, and deeply technical, offering the opportunity to solve open-ended challenges. If you thrive on innovation and enjoy pushing the boundaries of real-time content creation, this role offers unmatched creative and technical scope.
- Own and evolve the end-to-end technical content pipeline, including asset workflows, procedural systems, material setups, and validation processes
- Design, build, and deploy tools in Unreal Engine and Houdini to accelerate content production and improve team efficiency
- Integrate advanced AI-driven workflows such as neural rendering, generative asset creation, and scene reconstruction into production pipelines
- Optimize real-time rendering performance across CPU and GPU, ensuring scalability for both interactive and large-scale simulation use cases
- Collaborate across disciplines including rendering, simulation, machine learning, and product teams to align technical solutions with broader objectives
- Identify bottlenecks, implement improvements, and establish best practices for long-term pipeline sustainability
- Prototype, test, and productionize innovative solutions for complex, undefined technical challenges
- Act as a technical leader by setting high standards in craft, quality, and problem-solving through hands-on contributions
- 8+ years of experience as a Technical Artist or in a closely related field, with at least one shipped product using real-time rendering pipelines
- Expert-level proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, including materials, Blueprints, performance profiling, and rendering systems
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, HLSL, VEX, or similar
- Proven ability to design and deliver scalable tools and workflows in production environments
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools, including LLM-based coding and generative content workflows
- Solid understanding of real-time rendering, performance optimization, and content pipeline architecture
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
- Generalist mindset with the ability to navigate across content creation, engineering, and performance optimization
- Experience with Houdini or other procedural content tools is highly valued
- Familiarity with emerging technologies such as neural rendering, gaussian splatting, or simulation systems is a plus
- Competitive salary range: CAD $145,000 – $175,000 depending on experience
- Equity package as part of total compensation
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage
- Generous paid time off and vacation policy
- Flexible remote or hybrid work options
- Learning and development stipend to support continuous growth
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology with real-world impact
- Collaborative, innovation-driven work environment
