Project Accountant & Office Controller
Company: Coastal Pipeline Inc
Location: Deerfield Beach, FL (On-Site)
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday Friday (8-Hour Shift)
Pay Range: $55,000 $65,000 per year
The Opportunity
Architect the Financial Integrity of a 60-Year Industry Leader.
Coastal Pipeline Inc. is seeking a high-caliber Project Accountant & Office Controller to serve as the financial heartbeat of our premier underground utility firm. Since 1964, we have built a multi-generational legacy of excellence across Broward and Palm Beach counties. We aren't looking for a data entry clerk; we are looking for a financial steward who can manage complex project accounting, navigate the nuances of the construction lifecycle, and maintain the administrative precision that supports our $100M+ expertise.
In this role, you will hold total accountability for the fiscal health and compliance of our operations. If you are a disciplined accounting professional who thrives on "owning" the books and understands that construction profitability is won or lost in the details of the WIP and lien releases, we want you in our front office.
What You Will Be Doing
You will manage the full-cycle accounting and administrative operations for our specialized utility divisions:
Full-Cycle Project Accounting: Execute all Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), and multi-company payroll. This includes managing payroll taxes, child support withholdings, and employee advances.
WIP & Financial Reporting: Generate and analyze critical Work-In-Progress (WIP) reports, monthly Profit & Loss statements, and Year-to-Date summaries to guide executive decision-making.
Lien & Compliance Management: Master the billing lifecycle for all projects, including the meticulous collection and tracking of releases of liens upon payment.
Contract Administration: Type and manage highly technical proposals, Schedules of Values (SOV), Change Orders, and Additional Work Authorizations.
Risk & Insurance Management: Oversee Certificates of Insurance (COI) for municipalities, track subcontractor compliance, and manage complex OCIP enrollments and insurance renewals.
Operational Logistics: Support the field by coordinating Sunshine 811 locates, managing corporate vehicle registrations, and maintaining safety/SDS binders.
Project Closeout Mastery: Coordinate bond documentation, warranties, and final closeout packages to ensure seamless project handovers.
Audit & Tax Coordination: Reconcile credit card statements and fixed asset lists; partner with the external Accountant for quarterly and year-end tax preparation.
What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)
Experience: Proven professional experience as a Bookkeeper or Project Accountant, ideally within a high-volume construction or industrial setting.
Construction Literacy (Preferred): A deep understanding of construction-specific accounting, including Lien Laws, WIP reports, and Bond coordination.
Technical Mastery: High proficiency in professional accounting software and the MS Office Suite (Excel mastery is a significant advantage).
Organizational Authority: Elite multitasking skills with the ability to manage the administrative needs of multiple entities simultaneously.
Attention to Detail: "Surgical" accuracy in data entry and financial reconciliation.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to interface with engineers, general contractors, and municipal authorities.
Licensure: A valid Drivers License.
Compensation & Premium Benefits
We provide the stability and respect earned by a company with 60 years of history:
Competitive Salary: $55,000 $65,000 per year based on experience.
Performance Incentives: Eligibility for Annual and Performance-based bonuses.
Health & Wellness: Comprehensive Health Insurance options to support you and your family.
Work-Life Balance: Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and a reliable MondayFriday schedule.
Career Trajectory: Direct access to continued training, certifications, and internal growth opportunities.
Company Culture: A family-owned atmosphere where your contributions are recognized and your expertise is valued.
