Job Description
Functioning within the Health System’s mission, vision, and values the Manager of Surgery, Endoscopy & Central Sterile is a registered nurse who functions under the Director of Perioperative Services and maintains accountability of fiscal, operational, clinical and personnel management of assigned areas. The manager is responsible for supporting delivery of safe, efficient, high-quality patient care while overseeing daily operations, staffing, workflow, and resource coordination to optimize throughput, surgical case flow, scheduling efficiency and departmental performance. This role collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and scheduling teams from physician offices to support an optimal patient experience, physician engagement, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness. The Manager provides direct oversight of supervisory staff and is accountable for , time and attendance, staff performance, associate development, charge reconciliation, and daily staffing to support quality outcomes and service excellence. The Manager supports compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including CMS Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission Standards, AORN guidelines, AAMI standards, and infection prevention best practices In partnership with the Director, the Manager assists in implementing quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, operational efficiency reprocessing compliance, supply stewardship, case readiness, and patient and physician satisfaction metrices. The manager also supports equipment and supply coordination, implant readiness, cost containment efforts and operational initiatives alight with the LMHS’ strategic plan. In addition to management responsibilities, the Manager of Surgery, Endoscopy & Central Sterile participates on committees as assigned, serves as an expert clinical resource, and provides direct patient care when applicable.
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and have a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
Licensure/Certification: Must hold a valid unrestricted license with the Ohio Board of Nursing. BLS and ACLS also required. CNOR certification is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three-four years of advanced surgical clinical experience in all services lines. Previous supervisor or management experience is strongly preferred.
Skills: Must have strong communication skills and the ability to interact and build effective relationships with all constituents, including physicians and associates. Must also have a documented history of effective team building, creating a Culture of Safety, and leading positive change. Strong numeric, basic computer skills, and a comprehensive knowledge of all surgical services lines are also required.
