Position Summary
- In a blended role, supports the charge audit and inventory activities for the Cath Lab and also works as a Monitor Technician. Serves as a primary contact between Cath Lab and CFR/Charge Audit regarding billing inquiries. Makes necessary corrections and adjustments in order to accurately bill accounts. Reviews charges for accurate billing. Works with Charge Audit and Cath Lab department staff regarding charge process and improvements. Establishes and manages inventory levels and conducts physical inventory. Observes and evaluates cardiac arrhythmias and responds appropriately. Supports the department with clerical duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Work Experience
  - Previous healthcare or clerical experience preferred.
  - Previous experience in coding, billing, and charge capture strongly preferred.
- Education
  - High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Certifications/Licensure
  - None required.
Job Specific Performance Standards
- The duties listed below are a summary of the major essential functions of this position. The position may require other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned, and specific functions may change from time to time.
  - Audits Cath Lab charts. Makes necessary corrections and/or coordinates corrective action with department.
  - Investigates and gathers pertinent information from appropriate sources in order to expedite the billing process and ensure accurate patient billing. Makes appropriate changes in charges to ensure timely and accurate billing.
  - Serves as a liaison between Cath lab and charge audit/CFR regarding billing inquires. Responsible for making necessary corrections and adjustments in order to accurately bill account. Communicates with Charge Audit/CFR regarding matters affecting the billing process. Responds to requests from Charge Audit/CFR in a timely manner taking necessary steps to ensure timely billing.
  - Reviews billing errors with appropriate personnel. Assures proper training of involved staff on correct procedures. Monitors existing procedures and identifies and implements new procedures with department manager’s approval and assistance.
  - Maintains proper level of floor stock and equipment. Makes charges and credits and reorders when necessary. Makes arrangements for delivery of stock and equipment to department. Verifies accurate delivery of stock. Tracks and removes outdated supplies.
  - Maintains supply and procedure charge information in the Cath Lab documentation system.
  - Serves as liaison with vendors. Schedules vendor lab days. Assists in coordinating product evaluations with manager and vendors.
  - Maintains PAR levels for cath lab inventory stock. Communicates needs with surgical buyer. Demonstrates knowledge of interpreting rhythm strips and the proper documentation associated.
  - Escalates information in a timely manner to the appropriate individuals.
  - Ensures proper assimilation of information between hospital personnel, nursing staff, and others.
  - Executes various departmental functions such as storage of supplies, ordering, and receipt.
  - Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of equipment necessary to perform job duties.
