Patient Access Representative II at RWJBarnabas Health – Livingston, New Jersey

Job Overview:

The Patient Representative is responsible for effectively responding to inbound new and current patient calls for RWJBarnabas Health affiliated offices and schedule first time and returning patient follow-up appointments, strategically scheduling patients to the provider that will best suit their needs based on a series of clinical indicators. The Patient Representative will schedule patients and handle general questions with genuine empathy, striving to exceed patients expectations on every call.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent (G.E.D.)
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Position requires exquisite communication skills
• Ability to read, write, and speak or communicate in English to successfully accomplish the essential duties of the position
• Highly effective oral and written communication skills are required to communicate with clinical, administrative and other personnel
• Superior interpersonal skills are important in maintaining a sound public image in dealing with patients, families, and referring physicians
• Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Power Point

Preferred:

• Three (3) years of clerical experience including at least two (2) years of admitting/patient intake experience in a hospital or ambulatory setting
• Ability to speak other languages a plus
• Epic Experience

Scheduling Requirements:

• Shift Working: Nights, 7:00pm-3:00am
• Monday-Friday, every other weekend and holidays
• Full-Time, 37.5 Hours Per Week
