Job Description

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • As part of the Maintenance team the Maintenance 2 position performs scheduled and non-scheduled preventative maintenance, troubleshoots and repairs across campus including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. The Maintenance 2 position maintains, repairs and inspects specialized equipment in accordance with code and regulatory requirements. Self-motivated and willing to continually learn. As a vital part of the TEAM, Maintenance 2 assists with construction of projects hospital wide and ensures a safe, effective and clean environment for patients, visitors and staff.

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Knowledge & Experience
      • Skills-
        • If age is 21 or older, driving record must meet standards in order to drive RMH vehicle
      • Knowledge-
        • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, construction, preventative maintenance and fire systems
        • Knowledge of applicable building codes related to healthcare preferred
        • Basic computer knowledge
      • Education-
        • High school diploma or equivalent required.
        • Vocational or trade school certification preferred
      • Experience-
        • A minimum of 2 years of experience in general maintenance field

    • Authority and Accountability
      • Good working knowledge of hospital policies and procedures
      • Extensive exposure to confidential information or matters
      • Frequent contact with various persons or groups within and outside of the hospital including employees, department directors, providers, and outside agency personnel
      • Must be able to work with, communicate with, and properly handle different types of people
      • Must be able to complete assigned duties with a minimum of supervision

    • Aptitudes
      • Must be able to prioritize, utilize critical thinking skills and adjust to changes in work assignments
      • Must be able to reason and use logical problem-solving skills
      • Performs some duties that require some latitude for independent judgement and initiative in handling situations out of the ordinary
        • Demonstrates carpentry skills
        • Demonstrates plumbing skills
        • Demonstrates electrical skills
        • Demonstrates basic masonry skills
        • Demonstrates skills needed for emergency power systems
        • Demonstrates skills performing preventative maintenance work on hospital equipment including scheduling and documentation
        • Demonstrates knowledge of various federal, state and local codes, rules and regulations
        • Ability to trouble shoot malfunctions of equipment, buildings systems, etc.
        • Demonstrates ability to read and interpret information from blueprints, schematics and diagrams
        • Demonstrates use of power and hand tools
        • Demonstrates knowledge of water treatment systems

          • Demonstrates knowledge of water treatment systems
        • Demonstrates HVAC knowledge and skills
        • Ensure compliance with infection prevention in all aspects
        • Will assist with snow removal as needed
        • Will assist in construction projects across campus
        • Assists with monthly fire drills campus wide
        • Assists with lawn care and landscape maintenance
        • Other duties as assigned
