Position Description: Our Camp Hosts are a guest's first point of contact when they arrive at one of our campgrounds. They greet the public, assist them with questions, finding a site, and providing guidance about the forest and local area. A host's goal is to provide unmatched customer service during a guest's use of a facility.

This is a seasonal employment opportunity. Campground Hosts are assigned to a campground area and are responsible for managing the campground, providing unparalleled customer service to our guests, and servicing and maintaining the facilities and grounds.

REQUIREMENTS:

Have superior Customer Service Skills

Be able to defuse/de-escalate a tense situation between parties. Conflict resolution experience would be very helpful.

Hosts need to be physically able to perform a series of tasks that require:

walking the length of a campground,
navigating natural terrain while using a handheld blower,
bending over to regularly clean toilets,
kneeling to scoop out ashes from a fire pit,
leaning over to pick up litter and fallen branches,
stretching above your arms above your head to clip vegetation,
gripping and dragging a rake
carrying at least 30 lbs. of weight in a trash bag or barrel.
Operate various landscaping tools including a shovel, rake, blower, clippers, and lawn mower.

Have cash handling skills, including the ability to count back change

Have enough bookkeeping skills to be able to record and balance the cash vs. sales transactions

Be able to operate a computer and work with basic programs.

Skills in credit card processing are preferred.

Prior experience working with reservation systems is preferred.

THE DUTIES:

Prior to a guest's arrival, the Host prepares the facility, sites, and amenities for the clean, operable, and safe use. This entails cleaning, landscaping, inspection, and maintenance of the grounds, sites, restrooms, amenities, and additional facilities. During a guest's visit, a Host continues cleaning, landscaping, inspection, and maintenance and additionally collects fees, fulfills reservations, upholds rules, and sells approved items. When a guest leaves, the Host promptly attends to the site and makes it ready for the next guest. Additional duties and projects are assigned by managers.

LOCATION:

NOTE: Some of our campground locations are located in high elevation mountain ranges (from 6,000 ft to over 10,000 feet in altitude). Hosts should check with their medical provider to determine if they are safe to work and live at the elevation of their assigned campground.

ALSO: Industry terminology usually defines "Full Hook-ups" as Water, Septic, and Electricity. Camp Hosts are provided with a free site and any available amenity hook-ups that are available. When formal "hook-ups" are not available, efforts are made in most cases to provide at least water and septic services through alternate means. However, there are a limited number host sites that are "Dry Camping" or "Boondocking", which means they have no services readily available, and the host may need to travel to empty and fill tanks.
