Systems Engr II

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Systems Engr II based in India.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex instrumentation and field engineering projects within a technically sophisticated environment.
You will be responsible for both basic and detailed engineering activities across field instrumentation systems.
The position combines engineering design, technical analysis, vendor coordination, testing, commissioning, and site execution.
You will work closely with project leads, engineering supervisors, manufacturing teams, commercial stakeholders, and project managers.
Your expertise will help ensure that instrumentation solutions meet technical, quality, safety, and project requirements.
The role also provides opportunities to optimize engineering processes and apply modern tools to improve efficiency.
This is a remote position associated with the Pune, Maharashtra, India location, with no relocation package provided.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop basic and detailed engineering for instrumentation systems and support the execution of field instrumentation projects.
  • Prepare instrument design bases, general engineering specifications, detailed engineering databases, control valve data sheets, and field instrument specifications.
  • Develop and review specifications for flow, level, pressure, temperature, and analyzer instruments, including sizing calculations in accordance with applicable international standards.
  • Evaluate technical and commercial offers from instrument suppliers, prepare technical recommendations and order specifications, and review or approve vendor documentation.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing teams on instrument production, testing, calibration, and project-specific technical requirements.
  • Prepare inspection and test plans and participate in the inspection and testing of field instruments and analyzers.
  • Produce instrumentation documentation such as plot plans, hook-up diagrams, termination drawings, cable schedules, and material take-off specifications and quantities.
  • Prepare installation tenders and support the supervision of field installation, calibration, powering of DCS/PLC systems, and instrument loop checking.
  • Interpret P&IDs, control narratives, logic diagrams, and related engineering documentation to ensure accurate system implementation.
  • Collaborate with project, engineering, manufacturing, and commercial stakeholders to address technical and project-specific matters.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality and safety procedures throughout engineering and site execution activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process and engineering improvements, contribute to their implementation, and use engineering tools to optimize project execution and engineering effort.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in instrumentation engineering, particularly in basic and detailed engineering and field instrumentation project execution.
  • Strong knowledge of field instrumentation, including flow, level, pressure, temperature, control valves, and analyzers.
  • Ability to prepare and interpret instrumentation documentation, specifications, datasheets, P&IDs, control narratives, logic diagrams, hook-up drawings, and related engineering deliverables.
  • Experience with instrument sizing, technical evaluation of supplier proposals, technical bid analysis, vendor drawing reviews, and preparation of technical recommendations.
  • Familiarity with DCS/PLC systems, instrument loop checking, field installation, commissioning, testing, and calibration activities.
  • Ability to work effectively with project leads, engineering supervisors, manufacturing teams, commercial stakeholders, vendors, and other cross-functional partners.
  • Strong understanding of international engineering standards and quality and safety requirements relevant to instrumentation projects.
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to identify technical issues, evaluate alternatives, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Comfortable working with engineering software and digital tools to improve engineering efficiency, accuracy, and project execution.
  • Ability to apply established engineering methods while contributing feedback and ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.
