Salesperson (Outside) in Salem, Virginia at Tidy Services

Job Summary

The Salesperson is responsible for generating new business, expanding existing accounts, and promoting company services including portable restrooms, roll-off dumpsters, and grease/septic pumping. This role requires strong relationship building skills, territory management, and the ability to provide customers with service-based solutions tailored to their operational needs. This position will cover a territory from Salem, VA south through Martinsville, VA into North Carolina.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prospect, identify, and secure new business across construction, industrial, commercial, municipal, and event-based markets.
• Conduct site visits to evaluate placement, access, pumping needs, and safety considerations.
• Prepare accurate quotes, proposals, and service agreements.
• Manage a defined territory and maintain a strong sales pipeline.
• Educate customers on service options, unit types, roll-off sizes, and pumping schedules.
• Maintain and grow existing accounts through regular communication and service follow up.
• Collaborate with dispatch, drivers, and operations to ensure timely and accurate service delivery.
• Track competitor activity, pricing trends, and market conditions.
• Maintain accurate CRM records of leads, quotes, contracts, and customer interactions.
• Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities as needed.
• Resolve customer complaints regarding sales and/or service.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Frequent travel to customer sites, construction zones, restaurants, and industrial facilities.
• Ability to walk job sites and assess service needs.
• Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
• Occasional evening or weekend availability for events or urgent customer needs

• Experience in outside sales, preferably in waste management, construction services, environmental services, or related industries.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a high-activity sales schedule.
• Have a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
• Comfortable working in construction, industrial, and outdoor environments.
• Proficiency with CRM systems and basic computer applications.
